Period
句点
Ø Use a period at the end of a declarative sentence, but never in combination with any other punctuation marks.
Ø 在陈述句的末尾使用句点,但不要与任何其它标点符号组合使用。
例1:He said, “Watch out!”
例2:She asked, “May I go?”
Ø Do not use periods after most abbreviated units of measure, except when the abbreviation could be confused with a word (in. for inches, at. for atomic, no. for number).
Ø 切勿在大多数缩写度量单位后使用句点,除非缩写可能与单词混淆(in.表示英寸,at.表示原子,no.表示数字)。
Ø If a sentence ends with an abbreviation that includes a period, do not add another period.
Ø 如果一个句子的结尾是一个包含句点的缩写,不要再加一个句点。

Ø Use periods and spaces after initials in persons’ names.

Use periods but no spaces when referring to authors of a paper in the acknowledgment paragraph of the paper.

Ø Do not use periods in abbreviations or acronyms of institution or organization names.
